One of our regulars was sailing on someone else's boat from Chichester to Cowes.
To quote:
"Beware of flailing genoa sheets, we all know this anyway but this one got me when I was not even involved in the tack. I was sitting a long way back from a guy on the winch when we tacked, he didn't get the line in very quickly and it whipped right back to where I was sitting :-( so easily happens when everything is a bit crazy in high winds (close hauled into 35kts wind over tide - Chichester to Cowes)

I didn't see it coming as I was attending to the mainsheet winch, felt like I had been kicked by a horse. Good job I wasn't looking towards it and good job I had my heavy duty oilskins on."

ouch !

not saying it was not painful but some people bruise a lot more easily than others.

I stopped taking a daily aspirin because I bruised so easily that I was worried that in itself could cause more problems than the aspirin solved. I used to be black and blue from everyday knocks.

The op does look painful though, a real wtf moment when that happened I suspect.

Breaking the 2 rules for a good crew:

1) Does not bruise easily,

and

2) Does not complain when bruised.

Still not sure which I prefer - that, or having to find a matching dorade box since we lost one over the side this weekend :)
