Were hopefully heading back from the broads to gt.ouse next weekend via wells and thinking of doing the wells to kings lynn section through the bays, anyone done it and know of any issues to watch for? We only draw just under a metre.
Always gone via woolpack and bridgirdle buoys before so fancy a change of scenery and actually get to see a bit of the coastline properly.
Thanks in advance.

Yes done it a few times in daylight to/from Wells to the Roaring Middle, cuts the journey down a bit, but we were out of/into Boston. No problem, just watch your sounder and know which way you are going to turn to find (or be likely to) more water. I did draw 1mtr and mate had lifting keel, both yachts so doing about 5 knots. Wouldn't want to go flat out in a Mobo!!

Cheers for that, flat out in a mobo is usually only 6knots for me, they're not all fast, any more and it's just going uphill wasting diesel as it doesn't have the power to plane.(don't fancy the fuel bills either)
I have a chartplotter on board and it's always seemed surprisingly accurate around that bit of coast so shouldn't be any problems but it never hurts to ask for extra info.
I recon it will only save me about 2 miles and I'll just have to sit at anchor in the bulldog channel longer to get upto denver but as we've never been that way it has to be done.

I've been the same way, no problems either. Sailing again, but never had cause to worry about depth.
If you're used to going in and out of anywhere in the Wash you'll be at home there! :)

Thanks for the info given, did the run back round from wells to gt.ouse monday using the route through the bays and thoroughly enjoyed the trip, will definately go that way round again as it's nice to see a bit of the coastline for a change.

Pleased you tried the inshore route and enjoyed it. That coastline is superb in the right conditions and much more fun than ploughing offshore for hours on end. Wouldn't want to do it in very lumpy seas.

Nice one, now if really want an adventure.

Leave lynn via the bulldog, at no.2 turn 80 degrees (ish) and head for the yellow bouy in front of you app 2 miles. (KEEP A KEEN EYE ON THE DEPTH)
Keep the yellow can to your stbd and come to 40 degrees (ish).
Now you can drop anchor and get fish n chips from sunny hunny or carry on to the bays, but watch out for the rocks by the cliffs just before you get to the bays?

Ive never tried this with Sokotra but I did do it on a Norman 20 with an outboard, just for the crack and there was enough water for that.
