From mooring Brightlingsea, very small boat, leave an hr after HW saturday (07.30) (F4 easterlies expected) aiming at Shotley.
From Shotley sunday, leave an hour before low water (13.00) (F5, EASTERLIES, GUSTING F7 EXPECTED) aiming at Brightlingsea.

The wind would be behind us, wind & tide in same direction, it's only GUSTING 7, but committing to any return with a 7 in the forecast, in a 20' boat....what does the panel think? What other trip is feasible for those 2 days? (NOT tacking back from the Crouch!).

As Nigel says, current forecasts are showing the wind strenght dropping through Sunday so the return trip should be OK with the tide and wind behind you.

Saturday is looking rather interesting/character building for a wind against tide beat up the Wallet, although it should be fetch once past Calcton.

Should be a beam reach or better - so not so bad?

I'm looking forward to a bit of a blow this weekend as stronger winds suit us.

I'm not overly concerned , it's just that I haven't been across that way for a few yrs and the owner of boat never so we've been studying T/G's chartlets as it'll be low water ish at the sunk , I know it's neaps so hopefully we be ok .

If in doubt stay in port ! When the wind is in the west the wallet is not at its best?

I'll agree and disagree - the wind is in the East this weekend; but...

I'm staying at St Kats for a few more days. Didn't fancy the wind against tide with a 6 gusting 7 (coastal forecast) once out in the Estuary proper. Life's too short...
