I've spent the last two weeks cruising Menorca. Weather and ease of anchoring led us to the quiet, normally peaceful and sheltered horseshoe bay at Es Grau on the north east coast. On each visit an SSR vessel of UK origin of 30' was anchored within 100 yards of the shore in 5' of water. On board was a noisy two stroke gennie, either tied onto the bathing platform or tied into one of their two tenders. The gennie was left running all day in both locations. Even when the owners were off the boat. Apologies to the owner but a little consideration for the peace of other water users would not go amiss. The owner might also find the Es Grau mooring authorities a little more amenable to visiting yachtsmen using buoyed moorings in there harbour if this fella gave a little consideration to other water users and holiday makers

We 'did' Menorca ourselves last year and anchored in Es Grau many times, being just about the only anchorage near Mahon that you get some shelter from the wind. I don't quite see the point of your post as the chances of the owner MY Xoric reading it on this forum is just about nil and I would have thought a quiet word in his ear would stand a much greater chance of success. In any case, Es Grau and other nearby anchorages are plenty big enough for you to find a quiet corner well away from MY Xoric

I think one of the useful points of the post is to make people aware of the irritations of generators, even some inboard ones. In a quiet cove overnight there is nothing more annoying than man made noise (especially when I'm swetting it out and you know they are downstairs enjoying AC and a video!!) /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
