I have a piece of kit (Trimble GPS) which is missing an aerial. These units seem to be popular in the states and so I wanted to ask the guys there for some info. Where's the best place to post this sort of question on an American forum?

I googled sailing cruising groups some time ago and came across several similar US forums. I couldn't get over how aggressive and egotistical the comments were - not worth going there in my opinion

You could try

http://www.trimble.com/index.aspx

or

http://forums.sailingworld.com/

Yes many of our transatlantic cousins have robust views about Europeans, and especially Brits, but that's life. Many are kind and helpful and any way can do little harm down the ether

There are also several GPS specific groups in usenet, try searching google groups and one of them may be able to help.

Good luck

Got blackballed for making one or two light-hearted asides to our cousins, I merely asked why so few posts, when one considers the no. of boat owners in God's own country was it because we had more time on our hands or perhaps were more loquacious - I was accused of making water on them - wouldn't have caused a murmur here - they seem utterly mirthless and incredibly sensitive; they are certainly a differenr animal.

zzzz (Forget this --- Just go to the URL /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

When I am not working silly hours, I also cruise through http://cruisersforum.com/ A number of their posters also appear on here from time to time. I have found them a cheerful and friendly bunch, who on a number of ocasions have gone well out of their way to assist me. The best forum on that side of the pond.

Also check out Boatered .

I 've also joined http://cruisersforum.com .Registration is free, and they seem most obliging and civilised, so far! I've only posted twice yet, but the results are encouraging. being able to spell "color" properly is I suppose an advantage, but I'll be pressed with terms like "faucet" and so on!
The French call it a "robinet", wonder where this comes from?
