The Upside of not going boating

Yes, there is an upside (though I'm sure I'll never persuade Jezbanks of this)! On a wet and windy day, with the outlaws in residence, we've gardened and spring cleaned, done a load of those niggly jobs and can now boat with a free conscience next weekend.

Anyone else made good use of today's inclement weather?
 
Going bonkers after 3 weeks in Kent perhaps.

How's your August trip planning going? That's tomorrow's "job" for us - starting to plan a 2 week trip to the west country in August. Not as glam as yours but should be fun.
 
We had planned a 2 week west country trip for this year until muggins here bought the new boat in Greece!!!! All the planning is pretty much done. The Albanians have thrown a small spanner in the works by banning Motorboats, but at least we get to visit Italy!

Should be afloat in holland by September 3rd, and I should be across to bring her back that week, so should be home in blighty around 10th of September.

Fingers crossed for an Indian Summer!

Italy gets our vote over Albania any day and you might (might) , get back with boat an allfingers intact.

Hoping to be in Plymouth for powerboat racing early August so we might get a few good days. September weather is invariably good. Co-incides with kids going back to school so reintroduction of boating restrictions which always drives us mad.

I'll bet you a beer you get a good weekend in as soon as you're in the UK.
 
I didn't want to visit Albania, just the quickest route to Croatia, but the ban means you can't even enter their waters!

Hopefully weather will be good in sept. I like a bit of adventure, but David will be with us for the first bit so that adds a load of comfort. Good news is I will have logged 50% of the miles needed for my YM!
 
We cleaned off the huge amount of black streaks fron the rain from our hull, jet washed the ingrained muck, spliced up 4 mooring ropes, while raining polished the inside then re fueled.

Dying to do jobs like those too but we're 1 hr 45 mins from the boat so can't just drop by. Envy you a day of boat jobs. The most we managed today was creating a "take to the boat pile" in the garage.
 
Ah, but I did a VHF course last week for a guy from................ Albania. His dad is something fairly major in their tourist industry, so should we venture too far East then I'll give him a call. Stay with Col and and I my boy and stop fretting. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But then you'll be getting special offers on chandlery soon - BTW, can you sort out loyalty card printing for me? We have done some great deals with suppliers and will be putting together a programme for clients.
 
Yup - got a couple of thermo printers which are perfect for that purpose. Print is even waterproof. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Can source blanks too (though not for credit card purposes sadly) though small volumes are costly. How many might you want?
 
My boat is still not back in the water. It has got busy at work and in between times it has not stopped raining. Today I planned to fit two fairleads, VHF aerial, new horn and a radar reflector. Instead I just sat in the house and watched the rain come down, as I did on Friday, Tuesday, Monday and all of last weekend.

This drought is starting to get me down.
