Hi,

What do you tell the tax man.?

I have worked abroad and had lots of aggro from them, missing the self-assesment date and other such meanialities..

What happens when you dissapear for one-two years-forever.?

I am contemplating the move to the Med or even further.
Do I call him up and say bye, I'm off, no forwarding address, up yours pal.
Will I get fined for missing self-assessments with interest ad finitum.
Then, sorry no pension pal.

curious

The "Bye I'm off" form is P85. They will quite like a fwd address. You might be liable for continuing UK tax, tax is not just a matter fo whether you live here.

It's pointless withholding a fwding address. Assuming you retain connections with UK, (investments, family, etc) those people can be required by service of a notice to hand over documents that might (not "do", just "might") relate to your tax and that would include your contact details. Better to do it right, within the law :)

Far more complicated than you would think! Get some expert advice or it could be very expensive for you. Look up 'blevins franks' on the net, they produced a very good and free book.
