Hurry up it starts in a couple of hours.

Bad weather with up to 10 metre swells as they aproach Hobart.

Good luck and fair winds to all. :)

I've just been looking at the website and it's very hard to tell who's in the lead. Different pages suggest differently between Perpetual Loyal and Wild Oats.

The Volvo 70s (all in part of the Cliper around the world race) while very fast are no match for these maxis. With there huge canting keels and hydraulially operated winches and 20 crew men. However if the weather comes up really nasty the V70s will be in their element. IRC handicap is all very well but the media focus on the line honours. (So do the rich guys apparently) olewill

At one point today Wild Oats XI was logged as doing 27.1 knots! Now running away with the race for line honours.

Interesting that on corrected time she is predicted 65th out of 74 in the IRC class, which isn't quite as good as first.
