The Submarine

You could do it on a jet boat. Swing the reverse bucket down and instant reverse thrust:eek::eek::eek: In my youth did bits and pieces like that but somewhat more gently. Dip the nose a bit and full lock to do a sort of hover spin.

Only thing is the boat in the video looks like a mastercraft which are normally shaft drive so I have no idea how that could happen:confused:

Guys an idiot. Cockpits in mastercrafts don't drain easily unlike a rib or centre consol. Also I suspect that there would be engine components under water once the water filled the bilge. As far as I know there are breathers on the gear box which can take on water when the bilge fills to a certain level. Having said that we often splash a small amount over the bow which can’t really be helped.

Alright all you boating hotdogs, how is this done and would you do it yourself? The submarine

I stuffed my Bayliner 3-4 times (by accident).
this is how I think he did it

There is his own wake he is heading into.

Hits fist wave and as he dips into the second he powers off ready to pull a 180 BUT the bow digs in to the second wash wave.

I believe it was a stunt gone wrong, credit due he was messing about and made a great film 10/10

We stuffed this to 3-4 inches above the windscreen, the canopy was up at the time.

Looks like the Humber bridge, except the water's not muddy enough!
So where

That boat is a shaft drive Mastercraft and if you're especially determined to sink your boat a certain combination of actions make it possible - as a previous poster commented it is much easier with a jet drive!

I always did think that bow-riders were a stupid idea. I've often wondered as I powered incompetently through waves with water breaking over bows what would happen if I had an enormous hole, or a funnel, designed as part of the front of the boat. Now I know. Thanks for the clip.

This has been discussed loads, on here and even more on the Mastercraft forums. It was a fluke/accident, driver was just trying to do a standard Mastercraft turn, something went wrong and he submarined it.

I think Daka has the most plausible explanation i've seen to date.
