The Ship Inn, Lymington

Went there for a meal last night.

Apart from the fact that, as ever, they had run out of about a third of the dishes on the menu the meal was good, attentive service and came away with change from £50 for two courses for two inc bottle of wine, coffee and tip.

The food at this place has never been good, in fact something of a standing joke in Lymington, and the restaurant has rarely been full as a result. Just recently though things have changed, I assume they must have a new chef. We've now had two good meals there in the last couple of months, friends report the same, and on Saturday we couldn't get a table in the restaurant.

It's still not Egans or Lanes, but much better than it was.

Must say I've always enjoyed my meals there. I guess I just have low standards!
