Guess what? The Ship Inn by Lymington Quay has had a complete make-over! It really is rather good now with an individual boaty decor and very acceptable bar/bistro food at reasonable prices. There also showers and lavatories availble for yachtsmen visiting the quay. I beleive they've got it right and it will become a very poular establishment as the season starts. A huge and welcome improvement and well worth a visit.

Visited the ship in the week for a meal, a vast improvement on what used to be known locally as the sh*t inn ! Food and service good, decor slighty OTT (just like walking in to a nauticalia shop - where most of the trinkets have come from) shame there is evidence of a quick refurb ie paint flaking off walls, not apparently children friendly.

What a change from the dump it was before. Had a great Sunday lunch there. We did see a few famillies there with well behaved children and saw no evidence that it wasn't 'child friendly'...but lets hope that it doesn't turn into a 'creche' type restaurant, because they have done a fabulous job of refurbishment with excellent food and cheerful pleasant, professional service.

We dropped in on Thursday for a meal. The food and service was real improvement on old place although, be warned, they don't take bookings. I'd agree that it dodn't look particularly child friendly.

Do not be fooled by Carol Smiley / Llewelyn Bowen botched make over of pieces of sail cloth and drift wood that have been stapled and blu tacked together. Yes The Sh*t inn was the worst waste of potential in Lymington, BUT at least the Brewers Fayre signage above the door made you aware NOT to cross threshold into kiddie hell and diabolicle microwaved / deep fried food. NOW however having been lurred by the fact we thought it could never be worse than it was, IT IS!!! Rude untrained staff, 35 minute wait for a drink, no soap, towels only a bunch of smelly dead flowers in the ladies and on my third visit to the pub in 14 days (We thought it deserved a chance) the same debris was on the toilet floor and the bins still overflowing. The food on the three occassions I attempted to eat there appeared good on the menu but only my chicken caesar salad was warm, we are still awaiting for my partners steak and our veg from the second visit!! I could go on. What a let down, I live in Lymington and have waited 8 years for BF to pack up and go, now its back to the Indian to eat for US and the Kings head for a drink.

Was there as party of 6 last weekend. Place was crawling. They served us well. I thought they'd themed the place very well without going OTT. Friendly service and did everything they could to accommodate our late arrival (given the place was crawling). Surprised no real ale given the customer base but would definately go back.

Went in there on Tuesday evening just for a drink, first three drinks ordered (a Magners, a Sparkling Water and a Peroni off the big pump on the bar) they had "run out of". Didn't seem too keen on the fact that we sat at one of the tables, even though they had finished serving food.

Seemed a bit of a whore's drawers of a place, tarted up and full of promise but the same old service underneath. Don't think the are relying on repeat custom.
