I have to draw tips & tricks for instruction of Air-Only ventilators. We produce them. But… my English is Russian English… Even if I will ask for assistance professional translator it must be incorrect usage of marine terms… So, please, can somebody correct my text:

“Tips & Tricks
- Measure and cut DS7 before assembling of the ventilator on deck.
- Place and screw DS1 and DS7 into position dry. Make sure that all correct.
- Mount DS1 on sealant, wait until harden.
- Free floating balls and surface of DS1 from possible rubbish. Pay special attention to sealant debris.
- Do not forget to place DS4 into position and screw to DS5 before closing with DS3.”

To understand what is DS’s of I have placed draft of instruction here: www.air-onlyventilators.com/Air.htm
Thanks :))
Elena.

Is this what you are looking for?

Using DS7 as a template, mark and cut hole through deck / roof.

DS7 requires cutting to length prior to assembly. Place DS7 in the hole and measure and mark so that ???? mm extends beyond roof.

Locate and screw in postion, parts DS1 and DS7 and check for correct fit.

Remove DS1 and refit using sealant (supplied???).

Fit O-rings.

Fit DS4 to DS1and secure with nut DS5.

Ensure the floating balls and DS1 are clean and free of any debris prior to assembly.

Complete assemply by fitting DS2 and DS3.

I believe that your English should read,

“Hints & Tips for fitting the ventilator"
- Chooses a suitable place for your ventilator ensuring that there are no obstructions above or below the deck.
- Cut a hole in the deck and any deckhead lining ??? in diameter.
- Measure and cut DS7 to the correct length.
- Trial fit DS1 and DS7 and screw into position. Ensure that they fit correctly before proceeding.
- Remove DS1 and DS7
- Refit DS1 using a suitable marine sealant, wait until the sealant hardens.
- Ensure that the housings for the free floating balls and surface of DS1 are clear of debris and excess sealant.
- Do not forget to place DS4 into position and screw to DS5 before fitting DS3.”

Not sure that 'specialist marine terms' comes into this, but I have tried to understand your ventilator and the method of assembly.

Should there be some guidance as to how you decide where to cut DS7? How long should it stick up through the deck? Is there a margin for error? The o-rings aren't mentioned either...

Regards
John

Ha! Just noticed that Colin has had a go as well - take your pick!

Elena,

Well nobody ever said my English was perfect, but I'll have a go anyway/forums/images/icons/wink.gif. Below is my corrected version of your instructions.

- Measure and cut DS7 before attaching the ventilator to the deck.
- Place and screw DS1 and DS7 into position dry. Make sure they fit together properly.
- Mount DS1 on sealant and wait for it to harden.
- Ensure the floating balls and the surface of DS1 are completely clean and free of debris. Be particularly careful to ensure that no sealant finds its way onto these surfaces.
- Do not forget to place DS4 into position and screw to DS5 before attaching DS3.

Seems I was beaten to the punch as well!!

To Colin, John Morris and Tony

Ha-ha! Thank you all! It was fun and useful to get replies. I will mix all three versions, then I post it here.
So, I cannot choose ;-)), send me your mailing addresses all: one complete set for everyone. Take your pick: Air-Only Dorado (red or blue) or Air-Only Low Profile.
Of course, you have to wait until the installation instructions will be printed.
Hope on your further assistance :)).

It seems to me that it is perfect now:

"Hints & Tips for fitting the ventilator.

Choose a suitable place for your ventilator ensuring that there are no obstructions above or below the deck.
Using DS7 as a template mark and cut hole through deck / roof.
DS7 requires cutting to length prior to assembly. Place DS7 in the hole and measure and mark so that 1 or 2 mm extends below roof.
Trial fit DS1 and DS7 and screw into position. Ensure that they fit correctly before proceeding.
Remove DS1 and refit using a suitable marine sealant, wait until the sealant hardens.
Ensure that the floating balls and the housings for the free floating balls are clear of debris and excess sealant.
Fit O-rings.
Complete assembly by fitting DS2 and DS3.
Do not forget to place DS4 into position and screw to DS5 before fitting DS3."

Many thanks to all :))

Elena.
