In case you're wondering - rip off Britain is not a myth, it's here now; and doing very well. Thank you very much.
This brings me to another question: red diesel is supposed to be duty free, right? And for this I pay approx £0.35/ltr.
NATO personnel at the base where I work get the diesel for their cars (white) duty free. And for this they pay approx £0.21/ltr.
Where does the missing 14p go? Thieving government or thieving oil companies?

If not... reef early!

This is hardly a reliable statistical sample of the free market economy in action is it?
> And for this I pay approx £0.35/ltr.
The usual explanation is that it is more costly to distribute marine diesel to the leisure market in small quantities from a floating storage tank.
Anyhow I changed my politics this year and now support the end of duty free diesel for leisure boating, let's hope it turns back the clock in the Solent.
will it affect the gin palaces? from about a quid a gallon to nearly 4. will that mean the sunday afternoon race to get back to the marina past us parked yotties come to an end?
