In the Daily Mail the value of the Hunter Legend abandoned in the Atlantic by the man who fell and broke his pelvis is given as 17000 (seventeen thousand) pounds sterling.Is this a misprint or is it a combination of the strong pound and low prices in the U.S. where the yacht was bought?

Or a misinformed bit of reporting as seems to be usually the case when sailing is involved in the news.

It's a 1987 Hunter Legend 37, and was on the market at an asking price of $55K.
