The polluted River Thames !

According to a Green Peace Survey The River Thames is the second most polluted River in the Country ! Apparently they surveyed Thirteen Rivers and our Mighty River Thames nearly came Top or Bottom depending on how you look at it ,The survey found all the rivers polluted and contained plastics But the Thames was particularly bad With the most polluted section of the river being Teddington Lock . Bet Hurst Park would give Teddington a run for its money at the moment .

A local chap I know quite well works as the 'Mr Fixit' at Dads care home. He is, like me, a keen angler.

The Thames opened for the new seasons fishing on June 16th and he tried his luck at Abingdon.

Caught some splendid Roach, all of a good size and he said, in perfect health and condition.

So, it cant be that bad round 'ere.............................................

Much reduced pollution by sewage and industrial chemicals.
Have also noticed a improvement since ban on plastic bags in lack of stuff caught up in trees and riverside bushes.
Unfortunately no real improvement in dumped single use water and soft drink bottles,be it in the river or your local motorway exit roundabout..Grr.
Not sure who the culprits are but it seems to be only one particular section of the community addicted to buying and throwing these containers.
At least your average lorry driver recycles the 1 litre bottles
Mcdonalds still remains supreme in the "dumped out of car window" food stuffs
championships.
