I have just been away from Winteringham for a few days exploring in land

one night at anchor on the Humber, one night on a town pontoon at Gainsborough, one night at anchor in a woodland on the upper Trent, a night on a pontoon at Torksey lock and a night at anchor on the Humber again

every morning I woke at 5.30

last night I was back on the pontoon at Winteringham deep in the reeds and sitting in the Katie L shaped hole in the soft mud

slept like a baby

now drinking coffee and waiting for the rain to stop enough to load the car

lovely

Dylan,

I live 43 miles away from my boat on her mooring.

Consequently when I go to the boat I tend to stay the night, whether I move her somewhere or not; I love the sound of the Curlews and Oystercatchers etc around.

I also get to learn the geography of the moorings when dried out mud, which is jolly handy !

Funnily enough the club locals who reckon they know everything about the place don't do this, clearing off to their homes as soon as the tide begins to ebb; they don't know what they're missing.
