The paint won't dry!!!!!

Has anybody had this problem ?.
Primed the wood surface and then put on white gloss. After a week it still hasn't "gone off". Temperatures have been reasonable and the ventilation is good.All reputable products.
Where have I gone wrong and what should I do?

In my experience the paint was old and took a few weeks to go off. Another problem I have found is high humidity. The 2 together means removing the paint with thinners, etc. First option though is to try some gentle heat for a day such as from a radiant heater.

Gloss is a pain, it's a bit like epoxy. Needs nice warm, dry conditions. Get it dried out, sand and then repaint to get a gloss finish.

Was the substrate needs to be warm not just the air temperature?. 10deg is often a minimum.

Going off at a bit of a tangent here, but Danboline would seem to be capable of drying underwater in outer space.
Expensive and best for lockers etc but tolerable around galleys, deckheads etc.
Just a thought, as they say.

You wouldn't have been using Dulux White Gloss?
There has been a problem with Dulux paint made at a certain time.
We painted a few rooms with it last year and the paint took ages to go off and within a few months started to yellow really badly. We googled a bit and discovered many people with the same problem. We contacted Dulux and they admitted to knowing about the problem and offered us considerable compensation in the form of vouchers to cover the costs of new paint.

Whenever I use paint on a boat I use 2 Pack. Brushes easily, Set in half an hour.

Had a similar problem with a dinghy I was painting, in an open ended barn.

Took days for the undercoat to dry. As soon as the humidity improved (i.e. the air got drier) and the temperature went up a degree or two, it dried. Top coat went off overnight.

The problem paint is Fortress Trade White Gloss from B&Q. I suppose it could be Dulux in an alternative tin.

Unfortunately it's the time of year. You can buy paint driers as an additive.

hmmm i did my cockpit lockers out with hempel locker paint . "touch dry in 8 hours" this was on that lovely 17 degrees saturday 48 hours later is still tacky, or wet in places.

i'm just hoping it goes off eventally. there is no way i' ll get it all off again
