OG inquired with broker about a boat now residing in a Wales marina. Mentioned interest to a RCC club member who promptly announced I know that boat its called C******* B** and I moved it a few years ago , it was up at Allington Marina, then moved to Penton Hook to be sold.
Broker when asked was unsure about engine hours and stated that present owner had no knowledge that his boat was ever on the Mudway.
Was sold on to Thames based boater who took the radar arch off and disposed of scanner and display. Was sold on again and moved to welsh Wales.
So far have deduced that the arch was removed at Penton Hook but a little bird has told me the aforementioned arch is now lying in hedge at Harleyford.
Any Harleyford residents tripped over a glassfibre radar arch on their way back from the pub ?
Would be nice if I buy boat to reunite it with its original arch.

Bit more info maybe:)
Harleyford is a very tidy place apart from the hardstanding and even that is well kept!
There is a radar arch out the back of the sales office at Penton Hook.

What kind of boat we talking about here? Princess? I will have a look later on today when I am down there but don't recall ever seeing one and I have walked the dog most parts of harleyford

Glass fibre arch probably unbolted and removed from a Princess 388 called Cloudy Bay. :)

I looked at that Princess 388 "Cloudy Bay" when it was for sale on the Thames (Penton Hook marina i think) back in early 2012. It was priced at £89,950, and when i enquired about movement on the price as in my opinion it was £10k higher than same models for sale at the time, i was told there was no negotiation, that was the price! When asked about the missing radar arch, uninterested broker said "don't know". I believe it stayed up for sale with them for a further 12-18 months at that price, then went off their listing. It would be interesting to know what it eventually sold for, as the price of it now at £55k in Cardiff is a massive drop from £90k.

H,mm ....rather a dramatic price drop.Boat is approx 15k below everthing else on the web at moment.
Any comment on the condition when you last saw it ?
Wales is a fair drive just to view another three year money pit.
A Boats Progress. With apologies to Hogarth.
Year one
Ridiculously keen ...lose all sense of reality....pay well over the top...plan world cruises with all your friends....throw money at boat like no tomorrow, local chandler buys his house in Tuscany with new found wealth.
Year two.
Frighten yourself silly ...wife refuses to go anywhere near boat, friends always seem to be busy, stuff that needs doing round the house curiously takes up all your time and the marina is so far away.Boat gets used twice
Year three.
Boat is turning an interesting shade of green.Wife is really whinging about going on a proper holiday......and she really needs a new kitchen.
Broker in very quiet voice indicates the state of the market and suggests a price also mentions that the marina terms and conditions involve paying every now and then and please could he call in at the marina office.
Year Four
Boat still for sale and in a advanced state of dereliction.
Oldgit turns up......:(

Having been through two brokers on The Thames, not selling at Harleyford then Penton Hook, then turning up in Wales of all places at 15/20k below everything else, what do you think it's like :)
Question is do you feel lucky.....:)

Drove to Conwy to look at a Sealine the broker NYA described the boat as excellent condition, Turned out to be a heap of junk.

Great sum up Fred, that has made me chuckle. If its any consolation, that sums up how a lot of our boat searches went, travelling length of the country to view perfectly described examples on the phone, only to find unloved cosmetic projects in the flesh. I wasn't opposed to buying a boat which needed a bit of work, but when the owners were in denial about the condition and the asking price was top market value and not prepared to negotiate, most became a non-starter.
When i viewed Cloudy Bay, i thought the condition seemed good, especially internally i seem to remember it being well looked after with carpets, upholstery and linings all good (no idea what it is like presently) . Personally i would have changed the cooker/oven to new Eno units to smarten the galley area, but nothing drastic. I must admit, from the boatshed pictures, there seems a fair amount of surface corrosion on the engines which i don't recall, but so long as evidence of service history i wouldn't be too worried.
What would be a showstopper for me, is it not having its factory fit radar arch. If you track down the original one, then all good, but if not then in my opinion it seriously de-values the boat, which is a possible explanation for the current asking price. Also note, a bit lacking in modern nav kit, but an easy fix.

I must admit i'm a big fan of the Princess 388, and the engines Tamd61a are a great solid unit (got them in my boat). I've been given some great advice on these engines by forum members, and you don't have to have massively deep pockets to keep them well maintained on the standard servicing requirements.
Not sure if you've seen the Princess 388 at Upton. Its been for sale for a fair while now, having steadily dropped in price from original asking price of £94k. You never know, a cheeky offer might be accepted. http://www.tingdeneboatsales.net/upton.html

Out of curiosity, did you view that Oyster Powerline, and what did you think of it if you did ?
