Shooting the breeze with Brendan and the others at the Wokingham meet the other night, I mentioned my love of Nortechs (Blank stares from everyone)
So I did a little digging, and PM'd this to Brendan. He reckons I should share it with you
What do you think?? Mad or not??
Ecocat or Nortech??

Bit more than 60mph
They are 1500HP per engine. Tops out at about 150mph (If you are brave enough)
You can imagine Hamble HM trying to chase you, (if the rooster tail doesn't sink him) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Turbine catamaran - any iodea of range?

ooh i have fancied one of these for a while. There is one in the US for sale. Anyone any idea of the range/fuel consumption? Good fun doing 100mph but not if the range is weedily small.

Re: Turbine catamaran - any iodea of range?

Mr TCM,

If you get one and are not using it can I pretend it is mine! I obviously won't go out on it but maybe take a picture or two of me at the helm so that I can put it with my profile on the on-line dating site I use.

I am sure given the right conditions I could be burning more calories than the fuel you are burning!

Spoke to a guy at Dusseldorf on the Nortech stand that told me that with the top notch model a helo could'nt keep up!.

Almost had me signing on the dotted line for the show boat until Mrs N spat the dummy out!.

Fastest I've been to date was 65knts in the Perf 11.07 and that was 'wild' so gods know what 150mph is like.

Surprised they have the turbine model on legs, would have thought surface drives would have been the preferred option.

Here's the D. show boat..........

Re: Turbine catamaran - any iodea of range?

If its the red one with Lycomings, its been for sale for yonks, knock 100K off the asking and I reckon you'd get it. Range is only about 100nm, turbines suck the juice rotten but they are super reliable.

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

This one......................could be had for £250k - £280K, built 2001 dry stored from new. Would need to check insurance, lots can be funny about turbine stuff.

300 gls and about 0.40 mpg at 70 knts

Re: come on then - what size tank at the moment, what mpg?

Traded the T34 for a T72 only no one will sell me 105mm shells......85mm for the T34 you could get by the truck load from the Balkans!

I'll do you a good part ex against that 200 mph motor you just bought, this is much more fun /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
