Took a friend out to collect his small yacht from a mid river trot mooring today opposite the Strand, to move it into the Segas Sailing Club boatyard.
Had been down to check the boat about a week before.

Somebody had been aboard and nicked...
1 x Spirit Stove.
1 x Marine Radio.
1 X ??? Marine Battery , left the second one behind.
2 x Saloon seat/berth cushions.
None of it was in exactly pristine condition.
The engine key they must have thrown over the side, being a proper Sheppey buoy, this presented no problems at all in getting the engine going.

All appearing at Boot Fair near me soon, presumably. :(

Thanks for the tip. Suspect the little S***s responsible did this after dark.

Very much doubt that the PWC boys are involved and quite frankly anybody from the yachting fraternity would avert their eyes and hurry on past regards this particular vessel.
My thoughts are more towards somebody who would find the spirit cooker immediately useful rather than as something to sell on. ?
As for the seat cushions ?

Ps Yes, It has been reported to the Police.

Disappointing to hear, sounds like an unlikely target and a lot of effort this time of year for not much return.

It would involve some effort to even get out to the mooring especially during the hours of darkness, nearest to the mooring is Hoo,

Add in the random items taken, cooker, seat cushions etc, possibly of use to some of the river dwellers, it would suggest to me they were already afloat and mobile rather than launched from the shore.

That conclusion may have been reached by others as well ..................This is not new problem.
Had a Princess 33 moored on mid river mooring between Ship Pier and Blue Boar Pier in the late 1980s, it was broken into and ransacked , nothing taken !!!, then set adrift a few months later, only access by boat.
It ended up ashore near the old lock gate site in Bridge Reach.
It was spotted hard aground and reported to Garrison Pt, who send up one of their craft to investigate. They secured the boat to the shore to prevent further damage. Fortunately boat was registered and had a Peel Ports sticker on the wheelhouse window.

Peel Ports contacted the Commodore of my club at the time ( Kingsferry) who then rang me at work.

Due to the prompt action of all involved the boat was recovered on the following HW without any hull damage, later contacted them to thank the crew and to enquire as to costs.
No charge came back the reply.
