Rumours going around that the leaky old lock chamber at Farleigh was finally going to be refurbished.The lower lock sill seal was so poor and letting out so much water that the lock chamber was only able to be filled with all the upper paddles wide open.
Spoke to lock keeper at Allington over weekend and apparently money has been allocated.
Now if only they could find a few quid to raise that manky old bridge by a metre or two, yours truly could get to Yalding.
On our trip up, sounder was giving average of at least a couple of metres under keel until a short bouyed section where it shallowed out to around just over a metre.
EA have dredged the section but a sold rock bottom (probably Kentish Rag) has defied excavation.
