In fairness the old town of Benidorm is quite good. Some nice tapas bars and Spanish restaurants
In the winter many Spanish pensioners stay in Benidorm
Yes in these med towns the original fishing village can be found…….I was just poking fun at the stereo type English ….that actually does exist.Herein Galicia the regional government has got tourism between it teeth and I am afraid tourism is seen as a good money spinner that will ruin what’s left of the Galicia the tourist have come to see😕

We have just completed a 7 day Ceroc dancing course in Calpe about 25 km N of Benidorm.

We had 4 days to kill before catching the ferry at Dernia to Majorca. Against wifes advice I said I wanted to see Benidorm.

There appears to be 2 sides to Benidorm.

There are two bays with the Old Town on a higher area separating them.

The northern bay had a more younger crowd with groups of girls and youths that appeared to be intent on having a good time including getting drunk. In this area are porn shows and some bars have scantily clad girls gyrating around but not dancing. Many tee shirts with vulgar sayings on them like "old pussy is better than no pussy".

The Southern Bay generally had older age groups but I was surprised in an elderly couple in a supermarket where the man was suggesting getting a dearer sauce in in gentle conversation with his wife ( no anger) was using the F word ever 3 to 4 words - it surprised me - even having worked on construction site as it was so out of context.

The British visitors/residents appeared to be mostly Norterners/Scotish judging from their accents.

Real lack of restaurants but many cheap.places selling English Breakfast etc.

Surprised by so many having tattoos - of all age groups.

The other surprising thing was the number of electric invalid carts both 1 and 2 seater. It appears that many that choose Benidorm for a holiday do so to avoid walking even though the majority we saw could walk perfectly OK. To see so many invalid carts outside of bars was amusing.

We found all we met friendly but an interesting experience where you can find a certain "type" of English person all in one place.

An interesting and pleasant visit epitomised by the video of where you can eat and get drunk so cheaply.

BUT I don't expect to be returning soon!
