I agree it all seems a bit much.... mind you I'm the sort of chap who took up smoking for a day to prove to a pal I had the willpower to give it up.
Piece of cake, no patches... just went cold turkey.
I don't suppose that helps much.
Sorry.
May seem madness to you but I now go to the pub again and am able to come home without the revolting smell of cigarette smoke on my clothes and of course without the risk of being poisoned by other peoples smoking habits
I know this was not your main point but in my area the pubs are much fuller and in my local there are many new faces.
The smoking ban is the best thing to happen in my opinion.
We've had the smoking ban in Scotland for some time know and its great. The doom merchants have been proved completely wrong, I would guess that the restaurants and pubs are busier now than before the ban started.
Also quite a few workmates have given up all together so that cant be bad, unless your the chancellor.
Call me all the childish names you like (maybe you need another fix of nicotine) but come this winter it will be you smokers standing out in the cold not me.
It's real nice being on the winning side even if it did take Blairs
party to do it.
Since the smoking ban started, i have saved just over £120 by not eating out in restaurants...Great! loads of extra money for more cigarettes, might even decide to smoke cigars now.
Let Me change my post!!!!
I've just been down the pub, all the doors are open, it's "cold" in side, But "outside" they have got HEATERS everywhere, /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
I thought this was a motor boating forum?--I had a very pleasant weekend on my boat drinking cheaper imported beer watching my telly eating a take away and yes! smoking in my cockpit without feeling like a leper /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
