The louder you scream, the faster I\'ll go!
This weekend saw the MYC Regatta which was a great success. As usual, I was due to set out and set the yacht race markers but before I went out, I managed to attract a few yotties that wern't racing and wanted a "go" on CI. Interesting that a couple of them had never before been on a power boat (or speedboat or anything).
Having gathered my new crew, we set off. A few remarks were made as trundled out of the harbour like "Hmm, these engines are very quiet and not at all smokey" but one of the ladies said "I want to go really fast and weave in and out of the yachts to really p1ss them off". It made me chuckle and the thought was there - but no I didn't /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Once out on open water, I let CI do her trick of hauling out pronto and we shot off into some fairly lumpy water. When I say lumpy, I mean airbourne!. Now I had a very mixed reception to this. Whoops of delight and screams of panic - no names, no pack drill. The rules were simple though "the louder you scream the faster I go"
On the return journey we came into sheltered waters at the "Powder House" where there are two channel markers - hard left at the port can doing 30 knots and hard right at the starboard can...before you hit the beach at Sampson's Bay. The screams of panic turned to closed eyes, face in hands and head buried into another "reveller". Ah yes, legendary Windy handling!
A couple of converts and one dissenter - not a bad day's work, I thought!
