Hi, I'm looking to change the AGM house bank to lithium. I have 130 amp alternator and 4 battery banks being starter, bow thruster, stern thruster and house. Both the alternator and charger (25amp) go through a Cristec electronic battery isolator (well 2 connected together) and charging priority is to the batt with the greatest need. I also have 400 watts of solar feeding the house bank.
Given this set up I don't believe there is any risk to the alternator (Delco Remy) when the lifepo4 cuts off as the other AGM banks will then be fed and take the load.
Keeping it simple, I was thinking of putting a Victron Dc to Dc charger directly between the electronic isolator and the new lithium house bank to firstly restrict the load on the alternator and secondly so I can disconnect it via the app. This would enable max power to the thrusters when needed.
And then the charger, leave set to AGM I guess?
Boat is a Swift Trawler 35.
Any experts out there who know if the dc to dc charger will work when connected direct to the isolator? Positive to isolator and negative to bus bar.
Cheers
Phil
