There’s a dinghy in my garage,
There’s a liferaft in my shed.
There’s lifejackets in my wardrobe,
And charts under the bed.

Should you chance to come to stay,
Sleeping might prove a chore,
With safety gear, grab bag & books
Strewn on the bedroom floor.

Pillows and blankets from the boat
In boxes neatly packed
Are shoved up through the loft hatch,
And in a corner stacked.

The poor old rafters of the house
Are creaking ‘neath the load
Of sails and ropes and sailing gear
Around the roof space stowed.

There’s so much stuff around here,
That came from off the boat,
When I load it all back on her,
How will the damn thing float?
