Re: The Launch of a Forum Member\'s \'New\' Boat!!

What a lovely looking boat, the 19gts always looks mean and menacing to me.

I see the Ardlui ( thats spelt wrong) hotel in the background I have sat many mornings there with a pot of coffee making a fuss of the owners/managers cat watching the mist rise and fall over the hills, makes me want to be there again!

Do you have to go through the caravan park to get to the marina now?

The train line that heads North across the road from the hotel it looks like it might pass through soem great countryside have you ever been on it? was tempted last time I was there but it would have meant about 4 hour wait to get back again and I didnt have the time.

sorry for all the questions but thought i may aswell ask as I was here

Yip, This Fletcher is a superb first boat, We had the older version as our First. Fab boat.

You got the spelling right, That is 'Ardlui', Great view from the restuarant looking down the Loch.

Yes the New entrance is round the back of the hotel, and down pastthe side of the caravan park.
I've never been on the railway line, but i understand what you are saying, there must be some spectacular views along the way, My wife and i keep talking about getting the train fron Glasgow up to the boat, and then possible on to Fort William, just too experience it.

You will need to add it too your 'To Do List', Come back up for a weekend, Would be good to meet for a pint or two.

Cheers

Alistair.

I had a frightening incident just before this shot. During the launch a series of small waves nearly swamped my wellies, causing me to panic momentarily...

Yes, and notice that your jeep's reversing lights are on - at this point I thought I'd have to decide between getting run over or getting wet feet... a difficult decision to make, I can assure you.

It's a shame the pic is not of my face - you can't see the look of panic and desperation.

These pictures must be of the town at the bottom of lake. Where all the council houses are. I had to wizz up that river in my V8 thingy to rescue my Ospray saily thing wot I had lent to my unsaily nephew, who was carriering up the river and unable to stop!!

The hotel ont tuther side half way up was a larf. The one with it's own harbour. Just like fawlty towers but more so. Staid there once.

Then there was the time we had a barbeque, when we got to shore in the dinghy with a big leak. It said private. The golf course I think, so we had our barbique hiding under a big rock. Hee Hee!!

It's a super trip over Rannoch Moor and down to Fort William then onward to Mallaig which is an even nicer stretch IMHO. Excellent day out even on one of those many damp days for which the area is famous. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nearly correct Haydn, but it's the top of the loch and there's no golf course /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
