The latest boat my wife has said "No!" to.

There is enough grass around, good for an old fashion picknick.
See there are flowers free to pick....
Hang some roses around the ladder and invite her for a second honeymoon

Your wife says you do not have time for a sailing boat, but was happy, we assume,Z with the motor boat.

Get a motor sailor, and don't tell her about the sails until she complains about the noise of the engine.

Her position is not specific to sailboats. A couple of years ago, she said "No!" to a larger powerboat.

If you just want to vent, then the place for ventingis the Lounge. More vents in there than yellowstone park on a bad day. Any combination of scottish independance, global warming, and a good "ism" like racism or capitalism should get you off to a very good start.

As for the boat - well bear in mind that changing the wifewill always be way more expensive than changing the boat.

You need to apply much more psychology to this.

You should have brochures for Porsches and Harleys in the house and sheets of working-out budgets strewn around.

When she says "You are not buying a sports car!" step down to a mere boat.

Good thinking Lakey

That would be my strategy - in fact just starting to put a similar one into operation I want a catamaran - she doesn't.

I'd focus on the Harley

perhaps take the line that you could help finance it by paying significantly less life/health insurance.

I've been demoted to being a powerboat owner for the last few years, and have been getting the itch to acquire a modest sailboat again for cruising the Chesapeake and tributaries. I found one that I thought might meet with my wife's approval. It has a beamy and heavy hull, so it shouldn't be "tippy," and it has a TWO Bimini tops to completely shade the cockpit. My wife won't even go to see it. She says some nonsense about we shouldn't be spending money on such things and don't have adequate free time to use it. I don't expect any forum members to be able to help me with this. I'm just venting.

Oblivion is for eternity and usable life extremely short.
When you're taking your very last few breaths you'll look back and think how right she has been!!

Oh and commiserations on you loosing your constitution, the old world caught up with you in the end.

Show her some pictures of the interior, offer a new cruising wardrobe, talk about the destinations you can go to-be creative! Come on man you are giving up way too easily! What is it that turns her on? There is bound to be a way in somehow....

Definitely! I just emailed pictures of the lounge and galley to my wife and she mailed back "put a deposit down"...
