I've been demoted to being a powerboat owner for the last few years, and have been getting the itch to acquire a modest sailboat again for cruising the Chesapeake and tributaries. I found one that I thought might meet with my wife's approval. It has a beamy and heavy hull, so it shouldn't be "tippy," and it has a TWO Bimini tops to completely shade the cockpit. My wife won't even go to see it. She says some nonsense about we shouldn't be spending money on such things and don't have adequate free time to use it. I don't expect any forum members to be able to help me with this. I'm just venting.

Show her some pictures of the interior, offer a new cruising wardrobe, talk about the destinations you can go to-be creative! Come on man you are giving up way too easily! What is it that turns her on? There is bound to be a way in somehow....

If she is worried about the spend, contrast FREE wind with cost of fuel.

Also talk about range, you can go further with sail then with power (unlness you have a really big beast and then money is not going to be the issue). A boat like that could easily get to the Caribbean for a vacation or two.
