The Ketch Rigger at Hamble Point Marina is now one of the best pub/restraunts to eat at on the Hamble. It was taken over about 7 months ago by Steve and the difference in this great pub is outstanding. The food is all freshly prepared on the premises and he serves a mean pint as well. The staff are all very helpful and everyone is made extremely welcome. Keep up the great work Steve.

Have to disagree. We went there a month ago and it was really mediocre. Went there with wife and child and it was smokey and full of Yottie wannabes boasting about their last sail. But then again, it is in Hamble so what do you expect.

I must agree with YER625. The Ketch Rigger is a fantastic little pub serving excellent food. The change has been amazing in just a few short months of new ownership. Perhaps those that say "full of Yottie wannabes boasting about their last sail" are in the wrong place and should find other places to insult people without just cause.
My thanks to the new owners for creating a superb place for adults to eat and drink.

Call me a cynical old bast@rd if you like
(pause to await cries of "You're a cynical old Bast@rd")

But I do get a bit suspicious obout two brand new users (first post for both of you), taking the time out to sing the praises of this place!

In reply to both Skiffsailor and benalan.

Skiff sailor: I am surprised at your comments. Who did you expect to see in a marina pub? And if the smoking in the bar bothered you so much, why did you not go into the dedicated non-smoking area?

Benalan. Oh how cynical, we all have to start somewhere and what better way to start than by passing the good news about a great pub to all who read the forum. Somethings we just cannot keep to ourselves. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: cynical

hm, very suspicious.

I rated the ketch rigger as the most unwelcoming breakfast eatery ever, with customer greeetd with sighs and threats of long waits as though i wasn't paying. But this was five+ years ago, so it must have gone bust or got better i spose.
