Anyone out there surprised and perhaps annoyed because their insurance company/yacht sales/boatyard insists on addressing envelope//cheques/ letters etc. to only one partner their in a joint ownership?

My husband and I own a boat JOINTLY, and I'm the one who drives the sailing ‘interest’, owned and sailed our original boat singlehanded, and manages the paperwork.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I think most companies have taken PC to heart and stopped assuming the male is the senior partner. Mostly they address correspondence to the first named party which tends to be the one who filled in the forms.

The opposite

I've actually had the opposite experience. I have a beach cat that I bought jointly with a mate 20 odd years ago but haven't seen him for ten years or so since he got married. I have full use of the boat and pay for all running costs including insurance.
A few years ago I thought it a bit unnecessary for the insurance company to continue to address renewal notices etc. to the both of us so I contacted them, explained the position and asked them to just address correspondence to me in the future.
The insurance company wouldn't do that because we both have an insurable interest.

I also co-own my Sadler 29 with my sister in law, and all correspondence from the insurance company (different from the beach cat insurers) is addressed to the both of us.
