Maybe a midweek trip to the other Island if it did not go bang his evening ;-)

Any tips for the humps probably on Wednesday over low tide greatly appreciated. ie anything to avoid

I dont know what size boat you have?

The Channel from the east is not particularly well marked.

Its the sort of place you want to go around half tide and leave at about half tide after a good day shrimping, in my mind you dont go there at low water on a low spring.

From the south up the Usurie Channel in a rib is quite interesting as you can follow the Channel and its deep in the channel with clear water to see where nthe hazards are , I personaly would not want to take a large boat there.

I assume the sole purpose of your trip is to come and nick our fish ?

Not sure if you were trying to be funny but just thought it was brill plaice to sea ??

Thanks though,

Will probably fish a few wrecks (Cod and chips for dinner if we get lucky) and have late lunch in Herm (Shell bay) then head to Victoria Marina for the night.

The Humps - An area NE of Herm. Pics to follow maybe........

Robg. Great forecast this week so going to Guernsey with family via other places / activities ?? Will allow me a pass for France early Sep and Southampton later.

think you would like it as there are lots of shags if you look on google. ;-)

bandit. 11m but can take the ground and I don't mind shallow 1m> if water is clear. looks like a pool west of Godin that should have water and bit of shelter on start of flood???

Yes, i just checked the weather forecast...
I may be getting decompressed earlier than anticipated as well.
Not that early though. Enjoy your break. Clymene should be fit by the time I get back over, and need to go to Holland for a couple of days... Do i find a shag there... Or are they the feathered variety ;)

Enjoy your break :)

If your going via holland you should go 1st week of Sept - Amsterdam boatshow is on, lots of steel on show ?? May be more interest to you than Southampton although I am sure they may have lots of river boats ??

Did not get to the Humps today, after catching a few ling and small pollock we were to late to head there. Diverted to Petit Port just west of Joburg point and got myself and the SUP wet. Very pleasant anchorage but glad I went by boat and not down the steep steps. Wife then tooke the SUP and little boy for a paddle and both stayed completely dry compared to my efforts.

Thanks Bandit, Very good meal at The Old Quarter and got in for the early bird deal.

Glad you enjoyed the Old Quarter, did you speak to Paddy the chef/main man, a nice genuine bloke?

The Humps is nice but be careful and look for granite bits and bladder vraic to see where the hard things are.

If you want a good pub the Cock and Bull at the bottom of Hauteville.

Another day .....soon?

We did not make it 'the humps' due to unforeseen demands for shopping and Ice cream. Having had a view from Herm it is definitely on the to do list. Looked absolutely stunning, the water was crystal clear so I am sure if you are confident with your boat handling it would be a really easy area to venture into.
The humps is the area at the top of the picture with the view over Shell Beach, Herm.

Belvoir Bay with Sark in the background, lovely anchorage with steep sand so easy to anchor close in and get ashore in the dinghy. This was about an hour before low on a big spring tide.

Looks like you've picked the quality weather again. :)

If the humps is those lumps of rock, i had a look at those, trying to get around that side from SPP
I chickened and went wide around and back in to shell beach. Too much to bump for my liking.

(I see you teach jersey locals young about Guernsey ;)

Thats the area......We went through a passage south of Jethou as we pottered across at a sociable 7 knots about slack tide time, pretty easy but looked intimidating as we approached. I will check the name of the passage for you. Of course for anyone like you who does not do slow going around the long way is always easier.

FYI Tobars Passage

Nice pics. Don't worry about emptying the potty in the harbour, the donkeys pump all their untreated sewage straight out to sea anyway, dirty b*****ds
