As a first trip Deck Boy not yet 17 years old, I was convinced the green flash was another gag in the 'Only red lamp oil for the port hand side light' or 'Go below and ask the 2nd Engineer for a long weight (wait) and end up standing around until the Donkeyman eventually asks, " What the hell are you hanging around down here for?
I've seen the Green Flash quite a few times since, so I'm now a believer..:)

Saw it twice on one sunset. Passing the Falklands in 89-90 Whitbread, was boring the others about maybe seeing it.

Saw it, then went up on a swell, and saw a second flash! :)

Never seen it again. :(

I’ve heard about it. I’ve read about it. I’ve watched for it many times but without success. I’ve been very cynical that it even exists, yet yesterday evening, as the sun dipped both Mrs M and I saw it clearly.
So there.

This is the third photo from a sequence of four. The first shows the sinking yellow sun with a tinge of green at the edges, the second more green with just a spot of yellow in the middle, this is the third photo and the fourth shows just a hint of the (green) sun above the horizon. The whole sequence lasted maybe one second.

This is one of several sightings from W of Tobago. Other sightings include mid-Atlantic.

I saw it last year from the safety of a hotel in Jersey. Conditions were promising and I was torn between watching with binoculars or using a camera. In the end I went for the binoculars, on the grounds that if it happened and I had been using the camera I wouldn’t really have ‘seen’ it.

Somewhere, I have a photo of the green flash, taken while anchored in Rodney Bay, St Lucia. If you do discover a club, please let me know about it.
I will have to dig mine out. Went to a wedding held at a resort on the Dominican Republic Island and one night sitting on our balcony I suggested my partner watched for the green flash. I anticipated when it might appear and pressed the shutter. She didn't see it . When you look at the picture there is definitely a green haze around d the sunset location.
I never saw it in twenty years at sea though any did. Mind you I didn't see too many sunsets either when down below dealing with our engines and auxiliaries.

I have seen a green blob, green glow several times but a green flash only once in all the time I have spent in the Caribbean. The green flash was spectacular. The sky lit up green radiating from the sunset. Four of us saw it together. If it wasn't for that fact that we all saw the same phenomena, I might have thought I dreamt it 🙂

When I was building my house the neighbour's wife was in her kitchen one morning & flashed my men on the scaffold. I missed it, but they seemed quite pleased. Had nothing to do with the sun going down. There were 2 of them & I doubt they were green. The blokes did not seem to mind. :D
