The Good.

The sink on our boat is unusual, a Juval. After about the tenth time of the plug falling to bits, I sent an email to ask about a new one. They sent us 2, free!!!!! Blinding.

Going up the river to Seville and mooring up at the Yacht Club. Fantastic. The non boaty bit was finding an Irish bar and watching the Manchester derby. They are big on football in Spain! For more usual pursuits, the yacht club has 2 swimming pools.

The lads in the boatyard at Jolly Harbour, Antigua. Worked very hard to get a repair done and the boat back to sea.

Everyone I have sailed with this year!

The Bad.

Saidrive, Z drive or whatever they prefer to be called. Their ability to get plastic bags wrapped round them so choking off cooling water is verging on hazardous. Not so bad when its warm or flat, but an accident in the waiting. Happened several times this year on different yachts I've been on.

The chart cartridge used by a well known manufacture. 3 years old and you can't get corrections, have to buy a new one, still over £100 with the allowance for the old one. 'We changed the code' or some such cobblers.

The company that uses these cartridges in their chart plotters. Customer service awful. I really don't want to create an account with user name and password and get all the latest news and advrtising, just ask a simple question about spares! Probably OBE'd anyway if they go bust. Has been frustrating.

Owners of boats who complain about the cost of emergency repairs in Antigua to stop their boat sinking!

Plastic bags.

The Ugly.

Sorry, Venezuelans, Hugo Chavez is much more Jabba the Hutt than James the Bond!!
