So, that took care of the 26 May. What did you do for the rest of the holiday?

Long way to go before you can rival German charterers stocking up a 50 footer in Corfu. Just think 10*6*7!

Yes, I think the guy was called Pierre in days long ago when I used to visit. You filled in a shopping list and he'd arrive later and stack the whole lot on the pontoon. Sometimes he'd ask if you might be able to load it into the cockpit before he left (instead of taking it into town to sell I suppose). Dutch customs were equally laid back when we arrived there, we tried to contact them several times on our very first trip. They did seem to be surprised that we had bothered. Of course, that was in days before we were in EU, though trip above must have been just after EU was formed.

Big difference coming back to UK. We were boarded, searched and then told we had too much booze on the boat. I think the offending item was a bottle of Tia Maria. I showed them their own leaflet listing allowances and they admitted their error. Then they asked if I would let them keep the leaflet as they were in short supply. I said it had taken a while to get a copy and I wanted to keep it in case I was boarded again.

Fewer terrorists to worry about in those days so things were much more relaxed.
