Advice from those familiar with the Fowey would be welcome (a follow-on to my query about the Fal).
I'm planning to be there late August/early September, aiming to use folding bikes to explore inland from there, leaving the boat on a visitor's mooring/pontoon for a few days: failing that, on her own anchors laid as a mooring. Draft is 1.9m. Bikes come ashore by dinghy, but need a hard landing, not mud.
Is this realistic in the Fowey?

We normally use the pontoon up river at Mixitow Pill.
It is on the opposite side of the river to Fowey but it is linked to the shore.
It is quite a steep road out of the area where you come ashore.
The moorings are slightly more expensive but there are showers and toilets available.
It must be said that they are not of the highest quality but usable.

Fowey is a great spot for a short/ medium stay.

It is , as has been pointed out , quite hilly for cycling, but you are close to places like the Heligan (?) gardens and the Eden Project.

Anchoring will be a non starter, as I dont think its actually allowed in the harbour, fowey is still a very busy commercial port, with multiple shippings daily of china clay from the terminal opposite mixtow pill.

You will basically have a choice between picking up a mooring, or a pontoon birth.

For the best shelter Mixtow pill is recommended, and it is the only spot with direct access ashore.
Avoid the "Hillside" pontoon, as this catches the worst of the
swell entering the harbour in a SW. Power boats tend to get the pontoons, and raggies on the moorings.

V good water taxi service, and good landings for the tender.
Best showers are at the Royal Fowey Yacht club, with a good bar and the best view in the harbour. (£1 coins for the shower)
Dont miss Sams place, (No reservations, great burgers, fish, mussels.) Very busy but my favorite spot.

Not the best harour in a strong SW, if the weather gets bad from that direction, Mixtow is best, but only limited space.

Have a great time, Maybe we will see you there!
