i just was wondering how many of you get past the cape horn of the north.ard no muck in and venture in to the inner sound and the minge round about skye area. even to this wee place called plockton
Surely the far North in this context must be Muckle Flugga and the Birra Firth. A great anchorage deep down inside - safe from everything except direct Northerlies - with absolute peace and quiet.
Lots of times, even checked out some of the minge around the Skye area /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Done the North coast from Cape Wrath lighthouse to John O Groats.
Just not in a boat. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Been there a couple of years ago but would not really recommend Plocton as a "must see" place although it has a reasonably sheltered anchorage. Problem is no fresh water unless you want to haul it in jerry cans from the public tap in the village green. Sorry to say the local pubs were nothing to write home about nor where the shopping facilities although SHMO did manage to blow the best part of £300 in the local economy during a 3day/2night layover. - Almost forgot - no diesel available when I was there - good job I'd filled up in Kyle of Lochalsh - nice fishing boats made room for me to get alongside. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
IMHO better to head NNE coming out under the Skye bridge and heading for Loch Torridon, Loch Gairloch then Loch Ewe. - Nice pub in Altbea. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

We have not yet ventured that far yet, but hope to shortly. Our boat is based at Kilmelford and will soon get more use as I retire in 49 weeks time!!
