hi all...i allways take SIBS as the end of the "summer season" afloat..i will go out again but it has to "nice"weather, so i was looking back at the trips this year and decided that the trip me n bruv did, mercury to portland bill n back via weymouth, swanage (with dolphins) and lulworth cove and back on easter saturday was the pure magic highlight!!!!.......so what was yours ???

Aside from my 1st night passage aboard 'TM' :D...it has to be our first long (for us) trip to Studland. Great sense of acheivement!

good thread Steve apart from not subscribing to this being the end of the season looming:)

has to be weekend before last with Caley... swimming in Newton Creek, Cowes night out, exploring Bucklars Hard & the Beaulieu river and some time back in Southampton fishing.. purely due to being with the lad and finding some new places to bob about in for us.

followed closely by the Round The Island Race trip over to Cowes in the challenging weather.. personal fulfilment that one, finding I could manage the conditions should I be faced with them again.

closely followed :) by cowes fireworks night.. spectacular and our first night passage

You guys need to get to the Med

Seriously though - the amount of time you actually get out on the water in the UK, you can significantly increase in the Med.

There's weeks of the season left yet.
Looking at the weather forecast for Sant Carles - its in the 30 degrees all this week - and no wind so a crossing to the islands would be a delight - especially now that the crouds have gone - most of the anchorages will be quiet now.

Just a shame that I'm not out there at the moment.

But planning a few weeks next month so hoping the weather is like it was a couple of years ago - we were swimming in the sea in November.

Summer trip to CIs and northern Brittany was great.. once we got back. Three weeks of F4 to F8 at least enlightened to us that we can do more than we thought, and the boat can be very fast in crappy seas.An adventure rather than a holiday.
Then we took a 4 day break to Salcombe a few weeks ago ;def highlight of the year, and showed what boating must have been like when fuel was all but free.
We virtually never see another mobo underway, only yachts.

i think we get the idea hurricane, no need to rub it in !!!!!!

I'm also hoping that the season isn't over yet - I plan to get out quite a lot more and hopefully through the winter if the weather is agreeable.

Highlight of the year so far - Poole to Cherbourg and the CI at Easter. We had a crossing over there solo in a flat calm with brilliant sunshine, and didn't need to put the covers up for 10 days.

Hi Steve

Sorry, but you are not correct, I refuse to register your post as its title is just incorrect as it is NOT the end of the season.... :(

....down at Mercury this weekend, looking forward to nice weather and a trip perhaps to Lymington? :)

One of the best bits of boating for me this year was about three weeks ago when I went from Southampton to Dartmouth, three fantastic days on the Dart, around to Salcome and a couple of days there, then up to Weymouth and Five days there and then back to Southampton, great boating (albeit a tad rough) great company!

Then there was around the Isle of Wight cruise one balmy Sunday in about 30 degrees earlier this year.

Then there was the cruise over to Cowes to watch the fireworks and return in the dark (for the first time in the dark)

then there was the party at the Folly, got there in the dark partied until very late ?(not drunk) and then returned across a flat calm solent at 2am, superb!

then there was.............................................

do you get the picture, all boating is great, even when it aint!

End of season? not for me, I will be boating all winter!

Highlight so far ---

Was collecting new boat from Brixham , never driven a flybridge before , had to take her round to fuel berth single handed and tie up:eek:, then head off out into Lyme bay ( with a very dry mouth ) heading to the end of portland at the top of springs  . But after after stopping a couple of times to check filters , belts , stern glands etc i then realized why we have bought her , it was a fantastic trip with dolphins , freindly waving yachtsmen :) and a flat as a pancack portland race . Cant believe how easy it is to get into berth with twin shafts  .Sorry about the jinx on the weather now we are back in Lymington , ( have not moved since we got back :( )Hoping to be out and about this weekend though :D. The beer fridge is full so if you see us about come and have a cold one ;)

wot season?

tired of waiting I had a couple of nights in Yarmouth (NE6 and rain) then 2 weeks later the promised forecast meant we were the only boat (except the offshore LB) leaving Poole Harbour entrance and over to Weymouth, the perfect day forecast was OK, and the run back fell short of enjoyable....

only HE knows what the run to Cherbourg will be like in a couple of weeks; but any (please) stable weather thereafter will find us (me) out somewhere (probably close to a bar) and testing the Eberspacher....

and the boat is? named?

:)[/QUOTE
Sorry :o she is a sealine F36 , name at the mo is Suzan Brown , but swmbo has plans to change that . When i have found somewhere to fly it there will be a forum burgy flying , ( thanks again Haydn )

excellent - I have one flying too; normal one as the Duncan5000 version went off round the world with Stingo many years ago...:(

hi james .....its great that lots of forumites can keep out on the wet stuff all through the year, but for me the drop in temp around the end of september means, swollen joints and lots of aggrovateing aches n pains that make a day out on Thanks Mum more a "trial by ordeal"!!!........so if you dont have an "end of season" ENJOY and i,ll think of you all while im sitting on top of a radiator with teeth chattering !!!!............................oh, and just for the record im hoping for a weekend at mercury on oct 1st n 2nd and then that will deffinately be that !!!
