I have been reduced to pottering as I have a heavy cold.

Part of the boredom has seen me revewing the jobs list for the boat. I have now got it up to a staggering 154 jobs.

I got 2 1/2 done today. Plus a bit.
Finally defrosted the water system so I could get a cup of tea....

Fitted LEDs to all the halogen downlights in the saloon. They work, but they are too big for the reflector, so I have ordered a few more compact ones to fit at the weekend.
More successful was the changing of continental AC plug sockets for UK ones - great, I no longer have to insert my UK 3 pin plugs upside down.

I have also stripped out the saloon table, had the joiner round to measure up, and the stainless bloke to set about modifying the brackets attached to the king post to secure the replacement table. It looks a mess now.

Also emptied all the bedding, cushions, food, drink, fenders and lifejackets into 3 carloads to bring home.

So, a couple of ticks in boxes, but I must remain motivated to get even half the jobs complete. I am feeling fairly chipper.

No problems with split pipes on defrosting the water system?
do you keeep heaters on board?

Bit worried about stilldunno as i hadnt drained down

I too am down with heavy cold.....stomach hurts from so much coughing.....Oh and cant sleep

154? 154? I'll never again listen to anyone saying wooden boats are more work!!!! I've only got 4 things to do.

Paint the bottom
Paint the sides
Vanish the vanish
Paint the top

Oh hang on, each needs an average of 4 coats, so that really 16 things. Oh yes, fill the water tanks - 17. Put up the mast - 18.

SWMBO's got the heavy cold - trying to avoid it before I go away again.

Wen to Boat Show yesterday - utterly pointless, empty, small, uninteresting - left home at 9.30am back home by 2pm! Waste of a good £40.

Thanks for that - just saved £40!

Now as to that list of jobs - I have prioitised - those that have to be done whilst the boat is out of the water with the mast down and ther rest.

So thats just 4 jobs left to do!
Replace mast wiring and lights
Beef up shroud deck pads
Fit new log transducer / thru hull
Antifoul

Then there is
Fit & wire in new log, depth, wind, vhf, chart plotter, ais, active radar reflector oh and rewire boat whilst at it.
New (bigger) fuel tank
New heads
So just another 3 jobs

When you have finished those could you pop round and give me a hand with my Anti Fouling ?

I did quite well at the Boat Show, but was really disappointed that there was no Lee Sanitation or Tek Tanks. That sort of exhibitor has faded away.
No Inland Waterways that I could see either.
Still, joined the C-Map club for cheap upgrade to charts, bagged a v cheap Rutland 913, Solar Panel and controller.

At least I was pretty sure I had seen everything.

I believe there should be subsidised stall space for the Marine Industry, particularly the smaller companies.

Yes I missed Tek Tanks and Lee. I really want to fit a holding tank which as you can imagine in a 1960's wooden boat is quite an issue.

Oh I forgot to mention that I need to caulk a few seams! We shook her stern a little last year when we checked the deadwood bolts - which was utterly pointless as they were fine!

154 Jobs???

Crikey.

From what I remember, Jim, your job list has had c100 items on it since you and Full Circle first came together. Is this a cunning ploy to ensure adequate pass-outs to retreat to the boat for a bit of therapeutic "fettling"? You know, the old "garden shed" syndrome?

Or are you breaking jobs down into lots of sub-tasks? F'rinstance, does your newly-acquired wind genny feature as one job "install Rutland" or as sub-projects:

Job 93.1 - source stainless mounting post
Job 93.2 - install mounting post
Job 93.2.1- drill holes for mounting post
Job 93.2.2 - secure mounting post
Job......

And so forth?

It wouldn't be the first time a Project Manager has made a project look big to ensure adequate time/funding.... :-)

Anyway, you're not helping my case for renewing boat ownership - "Hah - If Jim has so many jobs on his list after 5 years of ownership, I'm glad we haven't got a boat"

Harrumph

You missed a couple of important steps....

Job 93.1 - source stainless mounting post
Job 93.2 - install mounting post
Job 93.2.1- drill holes for mounting post
Job 93.2.2- drink tea
Job 93.2.3 - secure mounting post
Job 93.2.4- sign off installation
Job 93.2.5- drink tea

Job......

Well boys - sorry to disappoint.

Black Waste Holding tank is one job.
Grey Waste tank is one job.

Most of the rest derive from it being 5 years old. These jobs have started to surface.

For instance, I have to cut a large removeable hatch into the transom bulkhead so I can get to the transom space (1 job) to lubricate the steering (1 job) and drop the rudders for bearing inspection (2 rudders, 1 job).
