Initial research suggest the Curmugeonly Gene will most likely be carried by owners of sailing boats who hail from Scotland. Is this correct? Or are such types only FAKING the CG in order to win respect amongst others, or a cheaper berth?

I prefer the thesis that this condition in a result of environment, especially as it is most prevalent in those who hail from Alba but live in Englandshire.
