This was always my idea of a classic pub, more like a museum with all the serious sailing artefacts & atmosphere, have some happy memories of the place from several visits over the years.

I'd think definitely a drinking rather than eating place, unless it's changed a lot; I haven't been there for years now, please tell me it hasn't changed ?

It hasn't changed one bit, i remember drinking there as a sprog during Falmouth Week and I still go now whenever I'm in Falmouth.

Another (big) vote for the Chain Locker. We were last there on June 3rd. 2010en route to Portugal. It is what I call a “real” pub and I don't think it has changed in the last 20 years. Lots of interesting pictures, photographs and artefacts. Excellent real ale, friendly staff, and the food was good.
It has been the yachties’ pub of choice for a very long time (and also the closest one to the visitors yacht haven) – easy staggering distance back.
A Google will bring up a lot more information.

Try it.

Cheers,

Michael.

THe Front, my favourite bar in Falmouth closely followed by the Chain Locker fortunately can stagger from one to the other!

If you want an inexpensive lunchtime drink/coffee/snack/light lunch don't overlook the Sailing Centre (not sure of its official name), just the other side of Trago Mills.
Comfortable lounge and balcony.

+1

Went in there last Saturday morning after your recommendation, Nice views, busy, good coffee and pleasant staff.

'The Shed' in Events Square gets my vote, very efficient service, friendly staff, not pricy (it's the only pub in Falmouth where I get change from a fiver for a pint and a 'softie' for the missus... f'nar.. f'nar) and the food is excellent in fact their 'Shed Burger' is absolutely bl**dy outstandingly good! I love the Chain Locker... lots of good memories there over the last 30 years or so but these days getting swarmed over by p*ssed up emmets and 'stoodents' just to buy an overpriced pint isn't my idea of fun.
