Well, having dug out all that concrete, the keel and other attendant parts are more or less fine, which is encouraging. However, there are one or two small soft spots and the edges of the large timbers are a bit frayed, so is there any substance I can soak them in to prolong their life before a major refit in 5 years, when I'll go in for a big reframing? Timber is already 150 years old, BTW. I'm posting separately on other problems.
 
The stuff we used to use was called "Gitrot" soaked ito the timber and preserved it and held the fibres together, thinned epoxy might do just as well.
