I have a unlimited tect, calls, data SIM with Three. We get a full 5g signal here, so better than a lot of broadband packages.

I have a Smarty data only SIM on a monthly plan that I use in a Huawei E5578 Mobile WiFi.

It works brilliantly

You could try the Smarty unlimited deal mentioned by Greg2 for a month, see how much data you use and then downgrade to a lower usage plan if necessary.

If you are going to download movies you might be as well with an unlimited contract. A few people offer them for around £15/month. You’ll want to make sure you have good signal with that provider.

BUT don’t feel you need to do any of this, if you are quite happy with DVDs etc - why change because your son says you should.

That is why I have a dog and not children.

Just get an "unlimited" contract for your phone, then enable "Wi-Fi Hotspot". Then no-one else can watch your TV when you're not on board. I've got unlimited data and inclusive global roaming for (I think) £24 a month. It's very useful when we travel and the wife's too stingy to get roaming on her phone!

Just get an unlimited 4g/5g deal. I have this with Vodafone as a spare/travel internet and it costs me £25 a month. Or get an unlimited deal on you phone and hot spot to that. All very simple to be honest

For having a two GSM sim package deal with Telenet for my wife and I, we got a free (I guess it is factored into the cost of the package deal) data sim that I use onboard in a TP-Link 4g router, use it mainly for the security cams

As Telenet is one of the main cable TV companies here it allows my wife to stream her favourite soaps to her phone or tablet

Torquay has excellent "3" coverage so I would suggest a data card from them. BTW I've a son just like yours, I never do anything right !

I hatevto tell you this Roy but your son is not unique when it comes to slagging you off, everyone does.

Smarty is the cheapest but when I tried to use them throughput was horrific. Thet seemed quite happy that I could get 10Mbs on mine. While my second router on EE was getting between 70 and 100 Mbs. You get what you pay for and iirc EE own the 4g bandwidth licence in the UK and towers so you will have greater reliability as you move about.
