What a change! Went there over Christmas. Great food, reasonably priced and attentive staff. You can have just a coffee, sandwiches or a full meal. The new Bistro building is really good and has an outside decking area for when the sun shines. The Marina lock gates have been renewed so no probs now getting in and out with the boat. I can see this being a very popular Bistro this summer especially with the locals and I wouldn't be surprised if bookings will be needed at weekends.

I was a bit put off the Bistro as I was in Island Harbour for their "Grand Opening". As far as I could see, no-one form the marina was invited and they even roped off an area so that we couldn't walk in front of the building. Looked like they didn't want any scruffy sailors there.

They don't seem to want locals either. Last time I drove down there and parked up to have a look round, I came back and found a note on my windscreen to say I would be clamped if I parked there again. They were trying to stop people walking across the lock gates a few years back and it is a public right of way.

We were in the marina on the night of their 'grand openening' and was invited to pop in for a drink and spent the evening there. We also ate there the following evening and the food was very good.

My wife and friend popped in and was asked, politely, asked to leave. How did you get invited, out of interest? I just wondered why they seemed to welcome some and not others.

No real invite. The lock keeper told us it was on and to pop in. We didn't get there till around 9pm after a BBQ on the grass so maybe all the formailities were over? We were in just shorts and t shirts so weren't even dressed for the occasion.
