The \'BIG Stick\' as the Yanks call it.
We took a trip down the Solent towards Southampton with Mr. & Mrs. 'Yankee1' the weekend before Easter.
Pictures courtesy of Mrs. Yankee1...
Here I was minding my own, keeping a keen eye out..
When this appeared in the distance, probably around 5 miles!
Thought it was going to be the 'Eisenhower' but Nope, 'Theodore Roosevelt' was the Name on the stern. Known as the 'The Big Stick' and the crew have a special name too, Anyone know what it is?
Quite a lot of security and an exclusion zone as maintained by police patrol vessels. They soon came over to plug the gap. (I wonder if they liked my Confederate flag /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
Something like 50 aircraft on board and 5,500 crew. Also looked like a 'Top Gun' present too judging by the individual colouring on the Tail plane.
Hope these were of interest to those of you further away, and those that just like pics. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
