Hello all

As I am off to the Caribbean soon, and in my excitement am keeping track in the form of days to go I wonder what is the correct form of counting.

Given my flight is early morning 23 March, and it is now early evening 14 March, how many days to go?

Do I count today, and di I count the day of departure?

I guess the pessamistic option would give me 10 days (counting today and day of departure) wheras an optimistic count may even give me 8 days (arguing today is almost done (not taking into account my all night vigal to watch a production job run succesfully...) and the day of departure as the target, and therfore cannot be counted.

Of course there is also 9 days, counted 2 ways. Today, but not d-day (departure day) or not counting today and counting d-day.

Could the knowledgable formites please let me know how much time I have left to get my a(buttocks)ss organised before I am off to St. Marting to spend 2 full (well.. 2 days short of) months with my love on my new boat?

Thanks for applying your time and attention.

Regards
Charles

How about counting the hours and dividing by 24?

but then, do I count till time of departure, or time of arrival?

if departure - is it the departure from home, departure from heathrow or departure from Charles de Gaulle?

if arrival - do I adjust for time lost or gained by moving west, or do I take the time that has passed on my wristwatch, or the time passed in london (since the faster we travel the slower time marches.. - talk to einstein if you dont understand)

....

We " work " a 28 / 28 day cycle so I guess we are quite used to counting systems. Here are some versions.

1. One guy counts coffee breaks so when he arrives he has 56 to do.
2. Another does not count the day he comes to work, the day he goes off or weekends - so he works, according to him, 18 on / 38 off.

Personally I count boat drills. One a week and I have got 13 left before I leave this jet setting life flying all over the globe.

You count your days how YOU like and sod the rest - but most of all I wish you well and enjoy.

First sign of madness you know, talking to yourself...

Being a father of small-ish children, I've become accustomed to measuring time in "sleeps". So you have 9 sleeps to go.

Enjoy!!

Graham.

Right, thats it - I've managed to refrain from saying anything more than you're pissing everyone off.

I've kept stumm, been good enough to have said nothing about the fact that I GO NEXT TUESDAY - to St Lucia. Yipeee
7 more sleeps..
