The Alaskan venture ......Moving on.
I covered the arrival at Fairbanks in the last post, hot as hades, but rapidly cooling nearer the coast, with the trip up the river on a stern wheeler.
The next day we moved on to place called Denali. This is just a small town that is only really known for White Water River Rafting.
Pics We overnighted there, and moved on the next day,
The hotel was built on the side of a cliff with vertical drops on three sides.
The lobby had hanging ona wall a relic of the gold rush. This boat was used to get freight up the river to where the wannabe miners started their trek to the gold fields. 60k started, 20k got there. The others either gave up or died in the attempt.
In the morning on looking out of the window I saw this
creeping up the valley, until the whole lot was almost covered.
On our way at last and there she was. Pics to remind you.
The cabin we has was about 15 ft abouve the water line, andwe had great view out through a 4 ft port at the sea rushing past and even better going through the ice pack later.

and as the cap'n said there would be NO bridge tours because of security reasons, HO HO... !!! yeah yeah!!! This was the best I could do
Of course there is the obligatory wake shot,,, Doesn't look much from where I was standing about 100ft above the water,
and in case you think I am ignoring the small boats in this saga, here's a pic of the Seward marina.
Gee I like doing this......
Our next stop was to be at the Hubbard Glacier. So that will be in the next post, and I might add that the Brothel Bit is getting nearer, but not yet, after all I have to keep things in their proper order. (That should bring some ribald comments)
More nexttime in part 3.
