So - The Telegraph has today published a list of "The 17 most beautiful rivers in the world (and how to explore them)"

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/cruises/river-cruises/most-beautiful-rivers-in-the-world/

Am I just being too patriotic and blinkered or am I right in thinking they should have found space in their list of 17 (or just increased the number to 18) for a very beautiful river on most of their reader's doorsteps (even if there were no cruise companies available to pay for the required links)?

The fact that the Thames can be easily explored so accessibly almost end-to-end on foot or from the water I think makes it rather unique.

Strange to miss the Thames and include the Nile when the Thames has so many iconic places within 140 miles!

Having done both the Nile and under our own steam the Thames, can appreciate the attractions of both.
However to my knowledge, apart from the odd boutique barge carrying a very select few who can afford the prices, there is no mass market with accomodation boats catering for the JAMs.
You can do it in a non syncronised jumble of day trips from The Thames barrier to the middle of London but then a void until Teddington and more day trips which grind to halt at Hampton Court.
With the Nile,it is what lines the banks, the river itself is just like giant canal.
Thames itself is worth the trip.
