....decided chance of a really severe cold spell threatening freeze ups etc is probably about as high as me winning a few million on the lottery so went down to the marina this afternoon and opened the raw water seacock. Managed to remember where I'd left the iignition key and how to switch on the battery circuits....took a deep breath and went for it.....and there we were , engine running sweet as you please after near enough 3 months with antifreeze in its arteries.
Oh that is a lovely sound and the feeling of the deck gently alive beneath your feet. In a fit of cameraderie I lifted the engine hatch and peered down at the big green lump.....and guess what....I swear it smiled at me !

The season is fast approaching..........

That was a knowing evil smile. I lifted the engine cover on mine. Turned on the batteries, turned the ignition key and it blew a raspberry then farted. Oh god the seasons coming!

Hello B1. Haven't seen you posting for a while.

Freeze up? Who told you that?

Not our reliable weather forcasting team, surely. They are useless. Varying from

1. "NO, we're not going down to the boat this weekend. I'm not freezing my butt off in Southampton, central heating or no central heating." Actual - a glorious weekend. Sunny and warm.

2. "YES, lets go out for a nice little run along the south coast. It's going to be a lovely weekend. The nice weather man says there will NOT be a hurricane." Actual - the biggest hooley of the decade.

Where is the seaweed and the frog? Has Bosun's nose gone dry? Did Jeanette hang out the washing? Have I waxed the car? Far more reliable!

P.S. Just seen your PM. Fleet review w/c 27th June. Photo platform available. Will be in touch. P.

Yes, indeed

I cannot wait. Next w/e, weather permitting, I am launching CI to take her back to Porthmadog. I keep running a tally of things in my head that I need to do / have done etc. Have I done enough?? Is she fit for a season?? Will anything leak?? Will my new depth sounder work??

My daughter goes to Uni in Southampton and I asked her to go and have a peep to make sure the Boat was still there - she assures me the Boat said Hi and is looking forward to being used very soon, as Steve Mcqueen said "Boating is life, what goes on before and after is just waiting" well he almost said that,

What film then?
