Went to SBS purely to see what all the fuss regarding the new 46 was all about.
It has generated a lot of interest at the show and apparently even a few forumites had been aboard during the week.
Have never been a fan of the Sealine school of "collapsed icecream" school of design, even though have always grudgingly admired the sheer amount of interior space.
You really have to see the boat in the flesh so to speak,as most photos do not do the boat any justice, actually being alongside the boat on the jetty is the only way to appreciate the thing.
The interior is once again from the "Tardis" school of design, a chum who looked around the boat with me and who has a slightly smaller Fairline was very impressed also.
Taking the always interesting forum comments along with me,I did inspect the quality of the finish on that rear flybridge support pillar, seemed OK to me,esp as was plug No1 and did inspect the drain at the end of the side deck that is supposed to get rid of any water before it reaches the aft deck. When asked about top speed, they are well aware of the matter and have been moving stuff around, plus trimming a bit of weight here and there to improve the top end.
It is only as you walk back past the interminable serried ranks of indentikit "me too" clones that you appreciate just how different this new boat is.

I liked the idea of a return to a lower dinette. But that midcabin kills it stone dead for me, it's like a cave in there. Awful. A compromise too far to get the dinette in in my opinion.

Also, appreciate it was the first one, but things like the baggy ill fitting leather on the saloon seating, not good.

Interesting concept, and kudos to them for not following the herd, but there's a reason why the herd do things a certain way.

Look at an old Princess 45 (circa early nineties), lovely owners cabin forward, excellent twin bed guest cabin, two heads, a lower dinette, decent galley and a big saloon and cockpit. Oh, and a lazarette too, and a top speed (with biggest engines) north of 30 knots. So it can be done.

Agree with you there; loved the rest of the boat, but that midcabin is terrible for a 46' boat.

i too went on it today,
its a amazing leap forward, for sure there one or 2 niggles but it does knock spots of competition.
i think quite a few women will be the decision makers and it will win some over

i also went on the sc47, i didnt realise it had a mid cabin option, of pull down bunk and partition.

i also liked the sc38 and 35 and the sport

sorry but i like them all !
nothing with a tender garage though

This boat below must be a different P45,that guest cabin was pokey to say the least and it gobbled up a lot of the downstairs space.

Something else as well it took me 10 secs to lift up the engine room hatch on the Sealine nip down and have a quick look at the filters/oil levels/ etc etc,all easy to check, lots of space between the engines as well, how long would it take on just about any other boat.My mates Targa is a nightmare,no wonder stuff is not checked simply because it is a 10 min job to get to anything much of which is hidden well away from the hatch evn when it is open.

An impressive machine and interesting design ideas, but perhaps just a little too like office decor for my personal taste. There is no doubt though that this is a lot of boat for the money and will appeal to many.

I saw this boat last week in Cannes. It's ehh.. different but I like it a lot! Well, I can understand that people want to buy this boat. Trendy, different, roomy and light. Exept for the mid cabin.. I'd never liked Sealine very much but they are always very roomy and clever with space.

I think it's gonna attrack a new sort of Sealine customer, I don't see "old-skool" Sealine owners step over to these sort of "space-mountain" sort of boats...

Hell of a lot less pokey than the mid cabin on the Sealine, at least you can stand up and move around in it, and sit up in bed! :D

... and sit up in bed! :D

I could sit up in bed in the F46 mid cabin. I could get out of bed, and stand by the side of it. Unfortunately, I would then be knocked unconscious as I attempted to walk around the foot of the bed having forgotten about the "lump"...

Yup,
There was a F46 up for sale recently** . Moored just up the pontoon in MDL Chatham near to a chums boat. Wandered up. Still like it a lot but well above my pay grade and still the issue of IPS.
Might go and look at a S*****e F43 , has all the things on my bucket list.
Actual boats available in UK, proper stairs, two double cabins, island bed, decent flybridge .
Shame the design was so err ...idiosyncratic , build quality not up to Prinline standards and the hull not exactly Olesinski.
The chance of getting a UK based Princess or Fairline appears to be slim, might have to take one for the team, have already ventured on to the S****** forum via the dark web .

** Now Sold.
